Our Stewardship Philosophy
Stewardship means giving each of us the opportunity to become involved in any way we deem able and to personally become committed to our parish both physically and spiritually. Stewardship is participating in our Church and its mission. It is the giving of Time, Talent, and Treasure in a committed way to support that mission. Practicing Stewardship means returning some of the gifts that God has so generously given to each of us.
Time is a key element of our Stewardship program. Our willingness to offer more than one hour of our time each Sunday begins the journey towards Stewardship. Another important ingredient is Talent. Some of us are gifted with special talents, and others become leaders in special programs. Some will join the choir. Some will become lectors and proclaim the Word of the Lord. The Holy Spirit will guide each as we explore what Stewardship means to us individually.
The Stewardship model for giving is a special approach to the Sunday Collection, not an additional collection. It spiritual understanding that our giving stems from a consciousness of our blessings. Thus, the program invites parishioners to think in terms of giving back a percentage of their income to God. Parishioners indicate the dollar amount they intend to give to the parish for the upcoming year on a Card of Intent. The commitment is completely voluntary. Parishioners are invited to renew their commitment annually, at which time they may make adjustments based upon their circumstances. This commitment establishes a more reliable basis for preparing a parish budget. The Finance Council assists the pastor in the administration of these funds.
Those who choose not to donate in the Stewardship mode are asked to simply continue what they have always been doing, namely giving a certain amount each week according to their means through the use of their envelope. Whether parishioners choose the Stewardship mode or the traditional mode, please know that we are grateful for their generosity, and especially for their active participation in the life of the parish.
All individual contributions are reported twice a year to parishioners who use envelopes. The end of year report is an annual report of your contributions.
