Long Range Planning:
Gym Floor and Rt. 352 Egress
If you missed last week’s Bulletin, the following is a brief summary of an Open Meeting that was held on November 29 and a report from the Long Range Planning Committee.
The Committee recommended to Fr. Meehan that the parish move forward on two capital projects that are somewhat immediate ... refurbishment of our gym (Cavanaugh Hall) and Route 352 egress, (part of our original building project.) The Long-Range Planning Committee, at the Open Meeting, received strong encouragements from those that attended, that the parish focus on Cavanaugh Hall especially a new floor. The committee, in a separate meeting felt that the gym especially has a certain readiness of implementation that invites us to act on it quickly.
The CYO committee shared with Fr. Meehan that funding for the gym could be secured from the many parishioners who over the years had come forward to say that they would gladly contribute to a wood floor. Fr. Meehan, in recognizing that we have just finished an extraordinary building campaign, expressed gratefulness and has accepted our CYO leaders’ offer to help solicit these gifts. Such a gift by parish members who are able, would be a great help, especially since the parish is servicing a considerable debt each month. As we reported in our Annual Financial Report sent to all the parishioners, our parish debt stands at $2,500,000. Through the kindness of our parishioners’ faithful offertory collections our long-range studies done by the Finance Council have seen this debt as one we are capable of handling. But it does make clear that some special gifts toward this project would be urgently appreciated and needed.
