The NGP Plan is moving along well. Parishioners, Parish Staff and Priests are working hard to meet the Priorities and Goals set forth by the Envisioning Team last year.
Priority 1 is entitled: The Sunday Experience. This priority recognizes the importance of the Sunday Mass in our lives. All aspects of this experience have been looked at, highlighting the development of a heightened “Welcoming Atmosphere” at all liturgies for all who attend, the restarting of the Children’s Sunday Liturgy of The Word, and to enhance the Liturgical Ministries that help shape our Sunday, Experience.
Priority 2 is entitled: Faith Formation For All Ages. This priority advances the knowledge of the scripture and the saving message of Christ, the Sacraments, social justice teaching, as well as the sharing of faith, to pray and to participate in the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy. To reach this priority, a goal of increasing parishioner participation in the following ministries: Worship Ministries- Alter Servers, Lectors, Communion Ministers, Greeters and Ushers, develop co-ed Bible Studies in the evenings, Youth Led Ministries (High School), Youth Adult Ministries (age 20-30) and Children’s Liturgy on Sundays. The design is also meant to assist all ministries in the parish to grow and recruit volunteers. A parish-wide ministry event has been discussed to give all of our ministries a time to share their mission and continue to serve our faith community.
Priority 3 is entitled: Grow As Disciples. This priority is designed to help parishioners grow as Disciples of Christ. This is achieved by developing opportunities to discover Christ personally and then share our faith with others thus building a strong community of faith in our parish. To achieve this priority a faith building program, will be started called Small Faith Communities. These small group spiritual encounters are designed to build an atmosphere where one’s faith may be nourished and then shared with others. Also parish wide events will be planned bringing these small faith groups together to help develop the larger faith community. Events like a parish wide festival / fair / picnic will help create a welcoming experience for parishioners to come together to share their faith experiences.
